We’ve Lost Five Hundred Pounds!

September 16th, 2012 by John

Off the boat, that is. It is now five days until closing. We have gone through the boat and removed everything we thought we needed but really had not used. We will move it to the house and see if it gets used there.

There are a few things to do for the closing but we think all the bases have been covered. A U-Haul has been rented and we are all packed. Sears is all set to deliver our mattresses and washer and dryer. A bed is in route from Overstock. We have a ton of stuff picked out at IKEA and hopefully the credit cards won’t spontaneously combust.

I think we have single handedly kept the economy afloat for at least one more month.

Hi, It is with sadness that I learn that you’re becoming landbound. You have had a wonderful few years cruising, and I envy you for that.Thank you for your blogs. I have been following them as an O’Day 40 owner, I bought mine, a 1986 model in Stonington Connecticut in Sept 2010 and sailed her to my home port Durban South Africa. 91 days, non-stop, singlehanded, – I love lone ocean crossings. The O’Day is a fantastic boat and I love mine. I would love to go cruising in her but am feeling a bit long in the tooth,I’m 63 now. Thank you for your stories and all the best in your new ventures.

About s/v Marylee

John bought a 23 foot O'day sailboat which he lovingly restored. We enjoyed sailing it so much that we bought a bigger boat, a 40 foot O'day. A couple of years ago we decided to plan for a retirement lifetime of cruising on the 40 foot sailboat. Now we are retired and we're underway on our lifetime journey on the 40 foot O'day. The 23 foot O'day is in good hands with the Fuller family.

Thank you all for your support. Please follow us along on our journey.
